Talk-debate "Silenced echoes: Between memory and censorship" with Dori Nigro and Paulo Pinto (artists), Georgia Quintas (curator), and Virgílio Ferreira and Jayne Dyer (directors of the Porto Photography Biennial), moderated by Alexandra Balona (RAMPA).
An event of the parallel programme of the exhibition “Joaquim – The Count of Ferreira and his legacy”, curated by Nuno Coelho.
Taking as a starting point the act of censorship of "Adoçar a alma para o inferno III" ("Sweeten the soul for hell III"), in the midst of its inauguration in May 2023 by the Santa Casa da Misericórdia do Porto, a work included in this exhibition, this talk will discuss the "potential discomfort" of art when it tackles complex issues such as slavery. The authors of the artwork, the curator of the exhibition and the directors of the Porto Photography Biennial, at which the exhibition was presented, will be present.
