A talk around the memorialisation of slavery in the Portuguese public space, taking as its starting point the process of creating the Memorial of Homage to Enslaved People in Lisbon, an initiative of Djass – Association of Afro-descendants. This talk will also serve to look at the various places that perpetuate the memory of the Count of Ferreira, in the city of Porto and in the rest of the country, in order to ask how they can be re-signified, contributing to the promotion of a critical view of Portugal's involvement in the transatlantic slave trade. Is it possible that these places will ever be re-signified?
