Born in Guiné Bissau, 1982, lives and works in Porto.
Vanessa Fernandes holds a Masters Degree in filmmaking and television. Her work approaches themes of activist foundation, where she reconstructs scenarios and narratives in a poetic and experimental way. Debut in 2019 the multimedia installation, and her performance "Lead and cotton" with bodymapping is presented at TAGV Coimbra and FIGaia. She has been invited to participate in conferences and debates such as; “Afroeuropeans Studies Conference”, “For us for us: African cultural production and aphrodiasporic” and international conference organized by the Center for African Studies of Porto, “Women's struggle in African cinema and the Middle East” in 2016.
