Marta Lança

Marta Lança (Lisbon, 1976) has a degree in Portuguese Studies, Comparative Literature and Text Editing and is a PhD candidate in Artistic Studies at FCSH-UNL. She created the publications "V-ludo", "Dá Fala" and, since 2010, has been editor of the website BUALA, on decolonial issues and the global south. In Luanda, she taught at the Agostinho Neto University and collaborated with the 1st Luanda Triennale. In Maputo, she worked on the Dockanema documentary festival. As a programmer, she has organised, among others: "Roça Língua, a meeting of Lusophone writers" (São Tomé and Príncipe, 2011); the cycle "Paisagens Efémeras", dedicated to Ruy Duarte de Carvalho (Lisbon, 2015); "Expats" (with Rita Natálio, FITEI, Porto, 2015); "Vozes do Sul" (Silêncio Festival, Lisbon, 2017); a conference in the NAU project with Teatro Experimental do Porto (2018); the cycle "Para nós, por nós: African and Afro-diasporic cultural production in debate" (with Raquel Lima, 2018), "Sou esparsa e a liquidez maciça: gestos de liberdade" (Maat, 2020), "TERRA BATIDA" (with Rita Natálio, 2020), "Bibliotera", with Filipa César and Marinho Pina (Meia Noite - Anozero Bienal de Arte Contemporânea de Coimbra, 2022). She coordinates the project "ReMapping Memories: (Post)colonial Places of Memory". She has translated African thinkers such as Achille Mbembe and Felwine Saar. She researches and writes for cinema and theatre, has written for Público and various publications and currently writes chronicles for Almanaque magazine. She is the author of "Infinitas-pessoas-mais-uma" (Tigre de papel, 2019), co-author of "FUTUROS CRIATIVOS Economia e Criatividade em Angola, Moçambique e Timor-Leste" (Acep, 2019) and organised the books "Roça Língua" (2015), "Diálogos com Ruy Duarte de Carvalho" (2018) and "Este corpo que me habita" (2014). In cinema, she has collaborated in production, research and screenwriting with Margarida Cardoso, Pedro Pinho, Leonor Noivo, Filipa Reis, João Nicolau, Luísa Homem and Tiago Hespanha. She is involved in various cultural projects with Brazil and Portuguese-speaking African countries.
