Marcelo Reis

Born in Porto, 1993, lives and works in Porto

Marcelo Reis (Porto, 1993) is a visual artist and music producer, working under the name Wushta.

Marcelo Reis earned an undergraduate degree in Cinema and Multimedia by Escola Superior Artística do Porto (ESBAP), attended the Baltic Film and Media (ERASMUS) and completed a Post-Graduation in Cinematic Art by Escola das Artes (UCP). He is currently a Masters student in Visual Arts/Multimedia at the Department of Fine Arts of the University of Porto (FBAUP). His work explores the transmission, translation and adulteration of signal/message between different media. His work includes "Paraíso Fugaz", (GnRation, Braga, 2023), in collaboration with Mariana Vilanova; "To be devoid of meaning is not identical to being lifeless" (Panorama#19, Escola das Artes, Porto, 2019) and he participated in Dose #5 with "Binary Rhythm" (2020), which was followed by "Death upon my thought" (2021) presented at the premiere of Dose #6. Marcelo is still the founder of OLEC, a live-streams platform that aims to showcase the current electronic (and experimental) underground music from Porto. OLEC has already featured musicians such as DJ Lynce, Perila and Olan Monk. He also started the project MÁXIMA INTRÍNSECA which counted until now with the performance of Mariana Vilanova and Francisco Antão at the Planetário do Porto - CCV.He is a monitor in the Master in Sound and Image in the School of Arts - UCP.
