Joaquim Moreno

Joaquim Moreno (Luanda, 1973) has a degree in Architecture from the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto, a Master's degree from the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Barcelona and a PhD in Theory and History of Architecture from Princeton University. He has taught at Columbia University, Princeton University, Syracuse University, University of Minho, Autonomous University of Lisbon, ISCTE and the Architectural Association. He was curator, together with the philosopher José Gil, of the Portuguese representation at the Venice Architecture Biennale in 2008, and with Paula Pinto, of the exhibition Carlo Scarpa, Túmulo Brion - Guido Guidi at the Garagem Sul of the CCB in Lisbon in 20015. Curator of the exhibition The University is Now on Air, Broadcasting Modern Architecture, at the Canadian Centre for Architecture, in 2018, and responsible for the book with the same name.

The book and exhibition Radar Venezia: Arquitectos Portugueses na Bienal 1975-2021, with shared editorial coordination and curatorship with Alexandra Areia, is the most recent result of a long research project on architecture and the media, and the exhibition Contadores de Histórias, at MAAT, investigated the architectures of energy. His research into the architectures of learning, which began in the context of collective research recently published as Radical Pedagogies, is currently continuing with the exhibition and editorial project Classroom: an adolescent gaze, which has traveled between Bordeaux, Lisbon and Hasselt. He is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto and director of the institution's Integrated Master's Degree in Architecture.
