Dori Nigro

Dori Nigro (Recife, 1988) is a performer, pedagogue and art educator based in Porto. He was born into a family that worked in rural areas and coastal fisheries in the state of Pernambuco, in north-eastern Brazil. He embarked on the path of the arts through amateur community theatre. She gained access to school and academic studies through public racial and ethnic quota policies. She carried out research for her PhD in Contemporary Art at the College of Arts of the University of Coimbra, which she completed in 2023, on the subject of performance art and Afro-diasporic identities. He studied for a master's degree in Contemporary Artistic Practices; a specialisation in Art Education; a bachelor's degree in Social Communication, with a major in Photography; and a degree in Pedagogy. Together with Paulo Pinto, he is the creator of Tuia de Artifícios, an artistic creation collective that develops actions in the field of artistic practice, art education and art therapy. He is a member of Núcleo Anti-Racista do Porto (NARP) and União Negra das Artes (UNA).
