Desirée Desmarattes
Born in Germany, 1992. Lives and works in Porto, Portugal.
Desirée Desmarattes is an artist and researcher interested in the colonial legacy that remains attached to different topographies. Research topics include postcolonialism, transnationalism and identity in visual and contemporary art.
Desirée Desmarattes graduated in Art Studies at the University Duisburg-Essen with study exchange at Marmara University Istanbul, and completed a Masters in Art and Design for the Public Space at the Fine Arts Department of the University of Porto. Her thesis was about In/visible legacies of a colonial past within public spaces of Porto. Desirée worked in contemporary art and photography galleries in Essen, Marseille & Istanbul.
