Cristina Mateus is an inter-disciplinary artist working solo and in collaboration with other artists since 1986. She is the co-founder of Virose, a project devoted to critically thinking and writing about the relation between art and technology, compiled on the site www.virose.pt

Cristina Mateus was awarded Masters and Phd degrees  from the University of Porto, where she currently holds a Professor position.

In the last two years, her work was exhibited in No dia seguinte está o agora, 60 anos do Círculo de Artes Plásticas de Coimbra (CAPC, Coimbra, 2018-2019); Ver as Vozes dos Artistas, curated by Miguel von Hafe Pérez, (Maus Hábitos / Metro do Porto, Porto, 2018) and participated in EDP Foundation's Public Art Program in the northeast of Trás-os-Montes (Mogadouro).

Her work is represented in private and public collections such as: Portugal Telecom Collection, Serralves Foundation, Ivo Martins Collection, Berardo Collection, PLMJ Collection, Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
