Born in Senegal in 1971. Lives and works in Lisbon, Portugal

Beatriz Gomes Dias is an academic, activist and politician.

She was ellected to the Portuguese Parlement in 2019.  She is a founding member of Djass - Association of African-Descendants, which mission is to defend the rights of the black population in Portugal, and to fight racism. I was through the action of Djass under the Lisbon Participative Budget that the city decided to build a memorial to the victims of slavery and slave-trade perpetrated by the Portuguese Empire. The winning projrct designed by the Angolan artist Kiluanji Kia Henda is now under construction.
